Many individuals may not know what Foot Drop is…it is the inability to lift the front part of the foot causing the toes to drag along the ground while walking. According to Web MD some people, to avoid dragging their toes, will lift their knee higher than normal or swing their leg in a wide arch. Foot drop stems from the weakness or paralysis of the muscles that lift the foot and has many different causes. It can strike at any age. It is characterized by what is called steppage gait.
The Drop Foot Remedy is an assistive apparatus designed to be wrapped and worn around the shin to stabilize the foot so a more natural gait can be achieved. The shin wrap itself is similar in appearance to an ACE bandage and is wrapped around the affected leg. A Velcro strap holds fastens it securely. It also assists in ascending and descending stairs. Televised test marketing has recently been completed indicating strong consumer interest in the Drop Foot Remedy.
The Patent Pending Drop Foot Remedy was invented by Louis Haines of Bronx, NY who said, “Unless one suffers from this condition or has a loved one with the Drop Foot it is difficult to recognize how frustrating it can be. From the time we learn to walk as a toddler, we never expect to have this type of problem. The Drop Foot Remedy adds a feeling of confidence while also strengthening the calf and leg muscles, all the while returning him or her to a normal gait. It is a perfect mobility product.”
