" Flash Blades": Attracts the Vision of Other Skaters and Onlookers

Roller Blade skaters alert! Reduce the risk of a collision with the new Flash Blades. Flash Blades is a line of inline skates featuring rechargeable and removable LEDs with settings for steady-on, slow or fast strobe. The design intent is to ensure the safety of inline skaters by increasing their visibility to others whether inside or outdoors—as well as to allow users to express themselves in a unique, stylish, fun and fashionable manner. The skates are available in various colors as are the LED light strips. Flash Blades also comes as an add-on accessory for existing skates. A heated liner is also available.

Flash Blades new inline skates are sold with removable lights or as a lighting apparatus for use with most any pair of existing inline skates and applied to the sides of the blade below the arch of the skate with the control box temporarily secured within the opening in the arch. The strips will be removable as charging is needed, or the skates could be plugged in to charge the lights. The control box contains the power supply, an on/off switch, and a circuit and switch to provide and operate the desired intermittent flashing of the light(s). The lights are included in one or more small tubes which are applied to one or both sides of the skate via Velcro® or a similar hook and loop fastener. Each tube contains a series of light emitting diodes wired up to the switch, power supply and (optional) flasher circuit. The rechargeable heated liner can be sold separately. Televised test marketing has recently been completed indicating strong consumer interest in Flash Blades.

The Patent Pending Flash Blades was invented by Mike Halkias of Brooklyn, NY who said, “Anyone who uses Roller Blades will benefit from Flash Blades. They reduce the risk of collision—caused by low visibility or illumination—with other skaters, pedestrians or motor vehicles and they supply a dazzling fashionable display. Flash Blades work perfectly.”
