"Microwave Steamer": Saves Time and Trouble Preparing Foods for the Table

There are many various types of cooking today but it seems the microwave has earned a spot with homeowners and kitchens of all kinds, whether in a facility such as a hospital or nursing home or in a restaurant. The new Microwave Steamer presents consumers with a piece of microwave cookware to be used in steaming vegetables and other foods. Not only does the Microwave Steamer make steaming a quick and easy process but the innovative design of this cookware allows it to double as a juicer for citrus fruits such as oranges, lemons, limes and grapefruit.

The Microwave Steamer is produced in phthalate-free, food-grade, dishwasher-safe molded thermoplastic like that used in Tupperware® and the Steamer is rectangular in shape. Produced in a single size, family size or individual serving size, it has three major components: a flexible seal-locking top, a sturdy less-flexible bottom and a juicer/steamer tray. When the cover is placed over the container it is then placed in the microwave for steam-cooking. The top edges of the container, and the edges of the lid feature holes for venting. Since the device is a sealable container, it can also be used for refrigerator storage of fruit juices or steamed foods once the cooking water has been removed.  Televised test marketing has recently been completed indicating strong consumer interest in the Microwave Steamer.

The Patent Pending Microwave Steamer was invented by Alan Roiz of Riverside, CA who said, “This device saves busy cooks time as well as the trouble of cleaning steaming foods left on the stovetop. It is fast and easy and serves as a handy juicer as well as refrigerator or freezer storage. It retains the vitamins and is both fast and easy.  It will steam vegetables, fish, poached eggs and other foods, including tortillas. I have a prototype. It works perfectly.”
