"The Baby Barrier": A Precautionary Device That Removes Risk of a Baby Rolling Off a Regular Bed

The online dictionary describes a simple depiction of barrier as—something (such as a fence or natural obstacle) that prevents or blocks movement from one place to another. This definition perfectly describes the new Baby Barrier. The Baby Barrier is a vertical security barrier configured to be easily installed along the side of an existing mattress. The design intent of The Baby Barrier is to provide a portable retaining wall that safely and effectively prevents the possibility of an infant or young child rolling out of bed and onto the floor.

The Baby Barrier is a special portable barrier system similar to a set of crib railings but designed to be installed on a standard bed and mattress. It is a two-piece unit comprised of the barrier itself and a hinge-attached support platform or a “lip” that runs the base of the barrier. It is designed to be installed between the mattress and box spring. Both netted sides will be raised up to protect the child or baby from rolling off the bed while sleeping.  Televised test marketing has recently been completed indicating strong consumer interest in The Baby Barrier.

The Patent Pending Baby Barrier was invented by Kareema Townsville of Philadelphia, PA who said “Sometimes there is more to childproofing a home than expected, such as—removing sharp and fragile objects, covering outlets and installing childproof latches on cabinets. Many parents visit family or friends and place their baby or toddler on a regular bed. That placement puts the child at risk of rolling off the bed during his/her sleep patterns. The Baby Barrier prevents the child falling to the floor and can also be used on a couch or soft cushion with the lip extended under the cushions. Whatever the case, The Baby Barrier is a precautionary device used to keep the child safe and secure. It works.”
