GRAYSLAKE, IL, April 4, 2018 (Newswire.com) - The "Little Apprentice" Step Stool is an elevated, gated platform for toddlers and children – combining aspects of the playpen and the stepping-stool, and elevating children safely to “adult height.” The "Little Apprentice" Step Stool – already produced and sold on a per-order basis – enables a toddler or small child to safely join his or her parents in cooking or baking in the kitchen, working at a work-bench, and other activities that take place at an adult-height table, countertop, bench, or other elevated area.
Fabricated in wood and fastened with wood-screws, the "Little Apprentice" Step Stool stands 36”H x 20”W x 18”D. The "Little Apprentice" Step Stool in a commercial version might be constructed in wood as is the prototype and the models sold thus far; and the Stool can also be sold complete, or as a pre-drilled, assemble-at-home kit. Further, the Stool (or its component pieces) are also produced in solid-core, molded vinyl or plastic “artificial wood.” The Stool meets the safety standards of the American Society for Testing and Materials and Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association. Once it has been assembled it has only one moving part which is a safety gate with a bolt-latch. The gate encloses the child. The platform is accessed by the step and forms a fully-enclosed floor bringing the child to adult height where he or she will feel part of the adult activities. Televised test marketing has recently been completed indicating strong consumer interest in the “Little Apprentice” Step Stool.
The “Little Apprentice” Step Stool is Patent Pending and was invented by Kevin Coffee, a grade school teacher and avid do-it-yourselfer of Grayslake, IL who said, “My wife and I wanted a safe way for our children to join us when she cooked or when I was building something at my workbench. It had to be sturdy and safe, but also look stylish enough to belong in a kitchen. Nothing on the market met all those needs while also remaining affordable, which motivated me to build my prototype.
